Finally, a verdict is in.
Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin was fined $100,000 by the NFL league offices for the sideline incident involving Baltimore Ravens kick returner Jacoby Jones on Thanksgiving Day.
The punishment may not end there.
According to numerous reports, Tomlin’s actions may cost the Steelers draft picks in the NFL Draft. The league’s statement said “because the conduct affected a play on the field, a modification or forfeiture of draft choices will be considered after the final order of the 2014 draft has been determined.”
That, of course, comes after the Super Bowl in February. This year, the draft will be held in March.
Tomlin has maintained that the incident was a simple accident but XN Sports’ Jennifer Eakins doesn’t believe it:
“While Tomlin can claim that it was an accident, I am not buying it and he shouldn’t be selling it. He is a former player, knows the rules and the boundaries of the football field. The newer video that has been released provides a different angle that clearly shows where his eyes are looking and his premeditated action.”
