4. Denzel Perryman, Miami
Arguably the best run-stuffer in this year’s class, Perryman is about as sure tackler as there is coming out of college. Perryman is considered a defensive quarterback, one that lives in the film room and then shows it on the field.
Perryman stops on contact and threatens to knock the ball loose every time he lays down a hit. He can take on multiple blockers at the same time and has good reaction time. He’s capable of both rushing the passer on third-down or dropping back in coverage, though he doesn’t have the speed to do so in most man-on-man situations.
Perryman has some tendencies to get caught inside or out of position, something that can be corrected with coaching. He needs to improve his angles of pursuit as well.
