1. Jets were eager to make a hire
Bowles may not have been the Jets’ top choice, but they wanted to land a head coach and were running out of patience. According to the New York Daily News, the team coveted Seattle Seahawks defensive coordinator Dan Quinn, but there was a cloud of uncertainty hanging over whether they could get him. Not only would the Jets probably have to put that hire on hold until the Seahawks’ playoff run came to an end, but the Denver Broncos and Atlanta Falcons reportedly have Quinn high on their radar to be their next head man. Bowles had two strong interviews, which led the Jets to their decision.
