Jermain Taylor vs. J.C. Candelo, 10 rounds, super middleweights
A former US Olympian and undisputed 160 lb champ, Taylor (31-4-1, 19 KO) is now on the comeback trail after receiving several severe beatings in his last few fights, especially in his devastating last-minute KO loss at the hands of Arthur Abraham in the Super Six World Boxing Classic back in 2009. Fighting again after a long layoff, he’ll be taking on a moderately talented contender in Candelo (32-12-4, 21 KO), a fighter that would have posed no threat to him in his prime, but who is now a good measuring stick in this new stage of his career.
What to look for in this fight: A few fireworks from Taylor, and some solid boxing skills to give him an encouraging victory.
