James Dolan Tells a Fan to ‘Start Rooting for the Nets Because Knicks Don’t Want You’

James Dolan

New York Knicks owner James Dolan is unarguably the worst owner in sports. When an elderly longtime Knicks fan tried to explain this to the inept exec, Dolan fired off a spiteful letter, accusing the man of being a “sad person,” an “alcoholic,” and telling him to root for the Nets because “the Knicks don’t want you.”

There’s nothing worse than a terrible billionaire, except a terrible billionaire who doesn’t understand that he’s the problem, not the fan that has to watch an infinitely subpar product while fans around the country enjoy their runs of legitimacy.

Filmmaker Aaron Bierman posted a letter his dad wrote to Dolan.

“As a knicks fan for in excess of 60 years, I am utterly embarrassed by your dealings with the Knicks,” his father wrote. “Sell them so their fans can at least look forward to growing them in a positive direction.”

Pretty good advice, given that under Dolan’s leadership the team has perennially been a laughing stock.

Dolan doesn’t see it that way.

Here’s his response, via the NY Daily News:

Dolan responded: “You are a sad person. Why would anybody write such a hateful letter. I am.just guessing but ill bet your life is a mess and you are a hateful mess.”

Dolan wasn’t done there and continued his typo-riddled rant.

“You most likely have made your family miserable. Alcoholic maybe. I just celebrated my 21 year anniversary of sobriety. You should try it,” he wrote. “Maybe it will help you become a person that folks would like to have around. In the mean while start rooting.for the Nets because the Knicks dont want you.”

Apparently sobriety doesn’t make you any less of a douche.
