Grading The MLB Trade Deadline

James Russell

Atlanta Braves – This is kind of an understated move but the Braves addressed the lack of left-handed relief pitching by getting James Russell from the Cubs. Russell was highly sought-after for having a 3.51 ERA in 33 1/3 innings. They also received some the versatile Emilio Bonifacio, who can play many positions and has 14 steals in 69 games. It’s not the flashy move but it’s an understated one that should help the Braves. Grade B
