Daily Fantasy Basketball – DFS Value Plays and Lineup – January 28

On DraftStreet, there is a $100,000 cap, which is used for eight players; three forwards, three guards, a center, and a utility player. In terms of value, should a player cost $15,000, incredible value would be 45 fantasy points. Unlike other daily sites, playing for five times value is not the goal here, as it is nearly impossible to find on a consistent basis. As a $100K salary cap would yield about 225-255 fantasy points for a good night, the best value is normally 2.5 or higher. Anything above 2.5 is a great value.

If you have not played over at DraftStreet, be sure to check the scoring system first, as it varies from other sites. Head over to make your deposit and start playing tonight!

DraftStreet Scoring: PTS: 1 pt, REB: 1.25 pt, AST: 1.5 pt, TO: -1 pt, Missed FT: -0.5 pt, Missed FG: -0.5 pt, STL: 2 pt, BLK: 2pt.

Let’s see how we did last night

Lineup
Optimized Lineup
Position Player Price Fantasy Points Value
F Jason Thompson 9.198 35.25 3.83
F Andrei Kirilenko 5.883 12 2.04
F Serge Ibaka 15.752 21.75 1.38
G Goran Dragic 16.196 39.5 2.44
G Giannis Antetokounmpo 7.318 19.25 2.63
G J.J. Redick 10.765 16.5 1.53
C Miles Plumlee 10.913 24.75 2.27
U Kevin Durant 23.867 53.5 2.24
Total 99.892 222.5 2.23

Overall, last night was a success, as our optimized lineup was a winner in most formats. 222.5 is a good score, and should have won most double-ups. In terms of value, the lineup as a whole produced a 2.23 value score, and our value plays were Dragic (2.44), Kirilenko (2.04), and Plumlee (2.27). Let’s see if we can continue tonight.

Value Plays

Guard

Rajon Rondo, BOS ($12,935)

Rondo has just recently returned from injury, and his minutes have increased from 19 to 3o in the five games that he has played. Tonight the Celtics face off against the Knicks, who are 20th in the NBA in allowing fantasy points to point guards. Expect Rondo to play around 30 minutes tonight, and how often is a player of his caliber only going to cost around $13K?  Good value for Rondo is around 27 fantasy points, which he is very capable of doing.

Forward

Luol Deng, CLE ($11,859)

Deng is capable of having 25 to 30 fantasy points each night, and for a bargain of less than $12K, that seems like a steal. For good value tonight, Deng needs around 27 fantasy points. The Cavs play the New Orleans Pelicans tonight, who are 27th in the NBA in defense, allowing just under 103 points per game. Expect Deng to continue to be a big part of the offense and playing well over 30 minutes. Deng has eclipsed good value five of his last seven games, and looks to make it six of eight with a good matchup tonight.

Center

Andrew Bogut, GSW ($13,232)

In Bogut’s last eleven games, he has only had two games with poor output. These two games were against two of the best defending teams in the NBA, Portland and Oklahoma City. Tonight, Bogut and the Warriors take on the Wizards, who are not among the league’s best in terms of defense. Expect Bogut to have yet another double-double, and meet his value at around 28 to 30 points. In three of his last four games, Bogut has gone over 30 fantasy points, and this could be yet another good night for the big man.
