Winnipeg Jets at Edmonton Oilers
Winnipeg is finishing up a three-game-in-four-day stretch today in Edmonton, having lost last night in Vancouver 2-1. I thought Vancouver would walk all over the Jets, but the team from Winnipeg put up a very solid game from start to finish.
That type of game is extremely difficult to put together two days in a row on the road; there’s been two instances this year where the Jets have had to play back-to-back nights on the road, and they’re 0-2 in those games (a 3-2 loss to Colorado, a 4-2 loss to Buffalo). It’s not to say that Edmonton is anything resembling a good team, but they’re getting the Jets in a great spot tonight.
The Oilers have lost six games in a row, scoring just six goals in those games. They have been shutout three times along the way in those games, including a 6-0 blowout home loss to the St. Louis Blues on Saturday night.
Edmonton should have a little bit more spirit tonight if they have any sense of pride in their team and their play, so I expect a better effort than Saturday night. They get the Jets at the right time, so I will have lots of top Oilers across my lineup.
